Revit® Architecture software—Building information modeling that works the way you think
Revit® Architecture software works the way you think. The innovative building design and documentation system helps you work naturally, design freely, and deliver efficiently. Purpose-built for building information modeling (BIM), Revit Architecture mirrors the real world of buildings, so you work holistically, rather than with isolated elements such as floor plans, sections, and elevations. And with parametric change technology any change you make, anytime, anywhere, is automatically coordinated everywhere in your project—model views, drawing sheets, schedules, sections, and plans—you name it. Design and documentation stay coordinated, consistent, and complete.
Key Features:
Autodesk Revit Building Maker
Access a better workflow for common conceptual
and schematic tasks. Easily create expressive
forms to produce an overall massing study. Import
conceptual massing from applications such as
Form-Z, Rhino, Sketchup™ and AutoCAD® 2008,
or other ACIS® or NURBS (nonuniform rational
B-spline) based applications. Turn them into mass
objects in Revit Building. Then select faces to
design walls, roofs, floors, and curtain systems.
You can even use tools to extract important
information such as gross area per floor.
Project Browser
Projectwide browser reduces the time
needed to manage and navigate the various
views, families, groups, renderings, and
sheets of the project. Reorganize the project
browser’s Views and Sheets sections to
match your desired project organization.
Building Sections and Elevations
Sections and elevations are computed on
demand in a fraction of the time required to
draw the sections by hand or with traditional
computer-aided design (CAD). Work in any
appropriate view of the building, including
sections and elevations. As your project evolves, the Revit Building parametric change engine
helps to ensure that your building sections and
elevations are immediately available, up-to-date,
and accurate.
Stacked Walls and Vertically Compound Walls
This wall type is ideal for a wall whose vertical
materiality and thickness vary. Revit Building
enables you to stack different wall types and
provides the ability to control them as one entity.
Parametric Components
Parametric Components, also known as families,
are the basis for all building components designed
within Revit Building. They offer an open, graphical
system for design thinking and form making as
well as an opportunity to express design intent
at increasingly detailed levels. Use Parametric
Components for the most elaborate assemblies,
such as cabinetry and equipment, as well as for the
most elementary building parts, such as walls and
columns. Best of all, no programming language or
coding is required.
Family Editor
The Family Editor is a graphical editing mode
that requires no computer programming
experience. Use this tool to easily create or
customize just about anything, including
doors, windows, and annotation types, and
load them directly into your open project.
Revit Groups
Parametric Modular Design, also known
as Revit groups, offers better support for
repeating units—ideal for designing specific
building types such as offices and hotels.
Rooms
Add flexibility to your model by calculating
precise area and room volumes. Enhanced
capabilities include the consideration of rooms
that extend through multiple floors. Easily
identify and track rooms between schedules
and model views, accelerating analysis and
presentation. Gain added productivity when
rooms automatically update with design changes.
Sun Studies
Revit Building sun studies enable designers to
quickly analyze sun positions and solar effects
while informing and influencing design strategy.
Choose a specific date and time, or time frame,
to generate a still or animated sun study.
Bidirectional Associativity
A change anywhere is a change everywhere.
All Revit Building model information is stored
in one place. As a result, any information that
gets changed is effectively changed throughout
the model.
Schedules
Schedules are just another view of the Revit
Building model. This capability dramatically
reduces the time to create and edit schedules.
Work in any appropriate view of the building,
including schedules. A change to a schedule
view is automatically reflected in every
other view and vice versa. Functionality
includes associative split-schedule sections
and selectable design elements via
schedule views, formulas, and filtering.
View, Query, and Schedule
Linked Models
Query a linked model in real time. Create schedules
that include elements from the active model,
linked models, or both. In addition, annotations can
be viewed and their visibility controlled from the
active building model.
Legends
Use a legend view to create symbol legends
without adding elements to a project. Display
any model or system family element. Place a
single legend view on many sheets. Legends
are simply another view of the existing building
model—always consistent, coordinated, and
complete.
Revision Tables
Document and track sheet-specific or project-wide
revisions with ease. Like all Revit Building views,
revision clouds and tables are kept up-to-date
and accurate, reflecting the current state of the
building model.
Interference Check
Use interference checking to scan your model
for collisions between elements.
Detailing
Take advantage of the extensive detail library
and detailing tools provided with Revit Building 9.
Presorted to align with the CSI format, detail
libraries can be tailored to accommodate your
office standards. Create, manage, and share your
own detail library.
Keynoting
Boost your efficiency by taking advantage of Revit
Building keynotes. Keynoting streamlines the errorprone
process of manually annotating construction
documents. Revit Building automates the creation
of keynote legends, thereby removing the burden
of manually tracking component and material
information. Populate modified keynote definitions
throughout the project model with ease.
Material Takeoff
Calculate detailed material quantities with the
new Material Takeoff tool. Appropriate for
applications such as sustainable design, and
checking material quantities in cost estimates,
Material Quantity Takeoff simplifies the
tracking of material quantities. As your project
evolves, the Revit Building parametric change
engine helps to ensure that your material
quantity takeoffs are always up-to-date.
Coordination Monitor
Coordinate changes across models. Work smarter
with engineers from other disciplines. Monitor
changes to grids, levels, columns, walls, and slabs.
Approve or reject changes and attach comments
for review.
Autodesk Revit Worksharing
Autodesk Revit Worksharing distributes the power
of the Revit Building parametric building modeling
environment across the project team. Worksharing
provides a complete range of collaboration
modes from entirely on-the-fly, simultaneous
access to the shared model, through the formal
division of the project into discrete shared units,
to complete separation of project elements or
systems into individually managed linked models.
Worksharing allows the team to choose the
best way to collaborate and interact based on
their workflow and the project requirements.
Autodesk Design Review
Autodesk Revit Building supports complete
round-tripping of markups with Autodesk®
Design Review software. Because the
Design Review markup capabilities combine
with Revit Building navigation and revision
management capabilities, tracking changes is
easy. There’s no need to reenter information.
Revit Building supports publishing a model
to 2D or 3D DWF™ format. This capability
provides high-impact, dynamic communication
of design information in a lightweight
format. It’s great for including nontechnical
participants in the project review process.
